Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a Senior High Performance Computing (HPC) Engineer for Classified Computing. You will lead design, deployment, and modernization of secure HPC environments to support national security and scientific missions.

You will collaborate with scientists, engineers, and cybersecurity professionals to optimize performance, ensure compliance with NIST/DI SA, and guide technology roadmaps in a highly secure atmosphere. A TS clearance with SCI eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in computer science or engineering or related field; 8+ years relevant experience.
• 5+ years hands-on HPC engineering: cluster architecture, admin, performance optimization.
• Advanced Linux with Python/Bash/Ansible automation.
• Experience with SLURM/PBS and HPC scheduling.
• Experience with MPI/OpenMP/CUDA and high-speed interconnects.
• Understanding of cybersecurity requirements for classified environments (NIST, RMF, STIG).
• Eligibility for access to Sensitive or SAP information; TS clearance with SCI eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, modernization, and operation of secure HPC environments.
• Architect scalable compute solutions with CPU/GPU, interconnects, storage, and scheduling.
• Develop automation to improve deployment, patching, monitoring, and efficiency.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to integrate security across the lifecycle.
• Mentor engineers and shape technology roadmaps for classified HPC.
