Job summary

A Principal Applied Scientist at Amazon will own the science mission for proactive and autonomous agentic experiences across Alexa AI's personalization, autonomy and proactive intelligence. You will lead a team of applied scientists to harness ML, NLP, LLM training and agentic AI systems to push autonomous intelligence boundaries and proactive user assistance.

You will shape technical strategy, translate research into production systems, and collaborate with partners to deploy AI-powered agents

Qualifications

M.S. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
10+ years experience in NLP, ML, recommendation, search, multimodal AI, or related field.
Proven track record of leading and managing science and engineering teams delivering real-time AI systems.
Demonstrated project delivery on large cross-functional initiatives from requirements to scale.
Excellent ability to uncover true requirements and align science and engineering efforts.

Responsibilities

Lead complex research and development projects.
Partner with T&C Product and Engineering on technical strategy and roadmap.
Evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies.
Make high-level architectural decisions.
Mentor and develop technical talent; set team goals and metrics; help allocate resources.
Drive innovation and translate research into practical business solutions.
Author technical papers and patents; collaborate with academic and industry partners.
