Job summary

EMD Serono seeks a Principal Scientist, LNP Discovery Biology to lead in vivo and in vitro studies within the Neuroscience & Immunology unit. You will design assays, work with cross-functional teams across formulation, analytical, regulatory and CROs to progress development of a differentiated targeted delivery platform.

This is a hands-on role and a core member of the project team, responsible for advancing CAR-T biology and guiding data-driven decisions, while mentoring junior scientists and

Qualifications

• PhD in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, or a related field.
• 6+ years of post-PhD experience in biotech, or pharma.
• Deep T cell immunology background, including CAR biology, pharmacology and in vitro studies; in vivo CAR-T with targeted LNP required.
• Demonstrated ownership of in vivo study design in humanized mouse models; direct experience with NHP studies.
• Strong practical command of multicolor flow cytometry: panel design, compensation, gating strategy, and failure modes.
• Track record of advancing a program to candidate selection or IND-enabling work.
• Experience collaborating across a matrixed/global project team.
• Clear written and verbal communication; able to present to leadership and advisors.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute and lead in vitro and ex vivo studies for targeted LNP delivery platform.
• Design in vivo studies in humanized mouse models and non-human primates, including group structure and dosing.
• Run and interpret multicolor flow cytometry readouts and set analysis standards.
• Collaborate with formulation and targeting teams to translate data into in vivo study designs.
• Interpret tolerability data and drive Go/No-Go decisions for candidates.
• Build head-to-head comparisons with benchmarks and published data.
• Represent in vivo biology in cross-functional reviews and timelines.
• Write and present data to leadership, partners, and regulators as programs mature.
• Mentor junior scientists and help grow the LNP Discovery Biology group.
