Job summary

Taher, Inc. is seeking a Head Cook to lead our school-related food service operations. You will cook from scratch using standardized recipes and supervise a small team to ensure timely, high-quality meals.

Responsibilities include managing inventory, enforcing USDA guidelines, and driving cost control while promoting nutrition education. This role offers competitive benefits and room for advancement within a family-owned company.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in a school food service setting preferred.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Strong communication skills with employees and client.
• Able to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares a variety of food through standardized recipes.
• Ensures meals meet quality standards and are timely.
• Directs food service staff and substitutes in prep, setup and service.
• Prepares and cooks menu items for regular and a la carte lines.
• Leads a small staff with clear direction and training.
• Checks equipment and monitors temps of refrigeration and freezers.
• Utilizes leftovers per standards and HACCP guidelines.
• Manages ordering, receiving, storing and inventory of perishables.
• Reinforces USDA regulations and cost control of products.
• Monitors waste and budget performance; sets monthly cost goals.
• Promotes nutrition education in school and community.
• Uses time management to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
