Job summary

Taher, Inc. is seeking a Head Cook to lead our school and community dining operations. You will prepare meals from standardized recipes, supervise kitchen staff, and ensure quality, safety, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

You will manage ordering, inventory, and costs under HACCP and USDA guidelines, support training, and help foster a culture of nutrition and service excellence for students, staff, and guests. This role offers competitive compensation and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in a school food service setting preferred.
• Strong communication skills with employees and client.
• Able to follow supervisors direction and lead a small team.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares a variety of food through standardized recipes.
• Ensures meals meet quality standards and are prepared within time limits.
• Monitors and directs food service staff and subs in preparation, setup, and serving of meals.
• Prepares and cooks all menu items for regular and a la carte lines.
• Leads a small staff, provides clear direction and training.
• Checks all equipment, monitors temperatures of refrigeration and freezer units.
• Uses leftovers effectively per standards.
• Manages ordering, receiving, storing and inventory control of perishables following procedures and HACCP standards.
• Reinforces USDA regulations.
• Conducts cost control analysis while monitoring product and menu costs.
• Controls waste and manages cost and budget performance.
• Sets monthly food and labor cost goals.
• Promotes nutrition education in school and community.
• Uses time management to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Performs other duties as requested by leadership.
