Job summary

Taher, Inc. is growing and is looking for a Head Cook to join our team.

This role will lead a small kitchen team, prepare meals from scratch using standardized recipes, and ensure quality and timely service in our school-focused food service program. The Head Cook will monitor safety, manage inventory and costs, and help promote nutrition education in the school and community while adhering to HACCP and USDA regulations.

Qualifications

• 2 years minimum experience in school food service.
• Ability to lead a small kitchen team.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of meals using standardized recipes.
• Ensure meals meet quality standards and deadlines.
• Direct food service staff in meal preparation, setup, and service.
• Prepare menu items for regular and a la carte lines.
• Monitor equipment and temperatures of refrigeration and freezer units.
• Control costs and manage waste; monitor inventory.
• Follow USDA regulations and HACCP standards.
• Promote nutrition education in school and community.
