Job summary

Taher, Inc. is seeking a Head Cook to lead a school dining operation and ensure high-quality meals prepared from standardized recipes. You will supervise a small team, manage prep and service, and oversee kitchen safety and compliance with USDA guidelines.

The role emphasizes cost control, menu planning, and timely service in a fast-paced environment. Previous school food service experience and ServSafe certification are preferred, with opportunities for growth within our family-owned company.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in a school food service setting preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Able to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares a variety of food through standardized recipes.
• Ensuring all meals meet quality standards, are correctly prepared and within acceptable time limits.
• Monitors and directs food service staff and subs in the preparation, set up, and serving of all meals.
• Prepares and cooks all menu items needed for regular and a la carte lines.
• Ability to lead a small staff and provide clear direction and training.
• Checks on all equipment, monitors temperatures of refrigeration and freezer units.
• Effectively utilizes food leftovers per standards.
• Managing ordering, receiving, storing and inventory control following HACCP standards.
• Reinforcing USDA regulations and conducting cost control analysis.
• Controlling waste and managing cost and budget performance.
• Establishing monthly food and labor cost goals.
