Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks an intermediate level custodial worker to maintain clean school buildings and grounds. Training will cover cleaning tools, equipment, supplies, safety, and leading other custodians.

The role includes supervising night custodians in some cases, securing the building, and performing routine duties. Regular attendance and reliable performance are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of effective cleaning techniques and routine preventive maintenance.
• Ability to learn and properly utilize various machines/equipment as updated.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally; mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Secure building and manage trash, bathrooms, hallways, classrooms, and gym.
• Mop, buff, and clean floors and surfaces; restock dispensers.
• Set up and move chairs; assist other staff as needed.
• Occasionally supervise other custodians and lead when required.
• Replace lights daily inside and outside the school building.
