Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a custodial worker to maintain school facilities, clean classrooms and common areas, and support event setups. Training is provided on cleaning tools, equipment, and safety practices necessary for daily custodial tasks.

Responsibilities include cleaning cafeterias, bathrooms, halls, and classrooms; setting up for PTA events and special meetings; and ensuring all doors are secured at the end of the day.

Qualifications

• Must be able to understand simple oral and written directions.
• GED or some high school is required; a diploma is preferred.
• Custodial experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean cafeteria and classrooms; mop, sweep, and dust.
• Assist with setting up for events and meetings.
• Ensure doors and facilities are secure at day’s end.
• Handle spills and maintain restroom cleanliness daily.
• Follow safety procedures and use cleaning tools properly.
