Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a custodial staff member to maintain clean school buildings and grounds. Training covers cleaning methods, tools, equipment, and safety procedures. Duties include classroom and facility cleaning, event setup, and enforcing end-of-day security.

• Ability to read and follow written directions.

Responsibilities

• Clean cafeteria after lunch, mop floors, realign chairs.
• Pickup paper/trash in bathrooms and hallways; clean spills.
• Sweep classrooms, dust surfaces, and reset rooms for next day.
• Move desks and equipment up/down stairs as needed.
• Set up for PTA, events, and meetings; reset afterward.
• Vacuum, shampoo carpets, wash walls, clean lockers.
• Mop bathrooms and wax hallways/classrooms floors.
• Secure and lock doors at end of day.
• Maintain teachers' lounge; perform related tasks.
