Job summary

Taher, Inc. is seeking a Head Cook to join our team in Minnesota. The role focuses on preparing meals from standardized recipes, leading a small kitchen staff, and ensuring quality and timely service for school and related dining programs.

You will monitor equipment, manage inventories, and contribute to cost controls while upholding nutrition education and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in a school food service setting preferred.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Able to follow supervisors direction and lead a small team.
• Strong communication skills with employees and client.
• Able to follow spoken and written directions.
• Ability to prioritize, plan and use time efficiently.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality when dealing with student, staff, and/or parent information.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares a variety of food through standardized recipes.
• Ensures meals meet quality standards and are prepared within time limits.
• Monitors and directs food service staff and subs in meal preparation and serving.
• Prepares and cooks menu items for regular and a la carte lines.
• Lead a small staff and provide clear direction and training.
• Check equipment and monitor temperatures of refrigeration and freezer units.
• Manage leftovers per standards and HACCP guidelines.
• Oversee ordering, receiving, storing and inventory of perishables.
• Conduct cost control analysis and monitor product and menu costs.
• Control waste and manage costs and budgets.
• Establish monthly food and labor cost goals.
• Promote nutrition education in school and community.
• Use time management to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform other duties as requested by leadership.
