Job summary

Knappa School District 4 in Astoria, Oregon is seeking a Head Bus Driver to coordinate daily transportation operations and routing in support of our students and community.

The ideal candidate holds a valid Oregon CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, a minimum of three years of school bus driving experience, and proficiency with bus routing software and office procedures. You will communicate with administrators, staff, parents, and drivers to ensure safe, on-time service.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Oregon CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Minimum of three years driving a school bus; routing experience preferred.
• Experience using a two-way radio.
• Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Drive assigned bus routes as scheduled and provide substitute coverage as needed.
• Operate and interpret bus routing software to manage route and stop information.
• Maintain accurate student transportation data and assignments.
• Assign students to buses in line with IEP guidelines.
• Dispatch operators and respond to radio communications efficiently.
• Coordinate route changes, detours, and communicate with schools.
• Prepare reports and assist with records management and administrative tasks.
