Qualifications

• Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing school transportation.
• Knowledge of safe driving techniques and motor vehicle laws.
• Knowledge of basic operation of a school bus.
• Knowledge of proper procedures in emergencies.
• Knowledge of communication and behavior management techniques.
• Ability to possess and maintain an Oregon Driver's License and insurable status.
• Ability to maintain a driving record per state requirements for School Bus Driver’s Certificate.
• Ability to complete defensive driving and first aid training.

Responsibilities

• Operates the vehicle in accordance with state statutes and district policies.
• Adheres to routes, schedules, and designated student pick-up/drop-off locations.
• Performs routine maintenance checks and reports issues.
• Transports students safely under all conditions.
• Conducts pre-trip inspections and reports deficiencies.
• Maintains bus cleanliness and safety on route.
• Ensures discipline and safety on board and communicates with staff.
