Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Satellite Simulation and Test Software Engineer IV/Sr to design, develop, and verify simulation environments for the TeraWave flight software subsystem. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in spacecraft software, simulation software, or embedded software development.
• Proven experience with architecture and development of simulation environments for flight or embedded systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead the technical architecture of a complex software system.
• Understanding of deterministic lockstep simulation design and synchronization considerations.
• Knowledge of GN&C sensor and actuator modeling (IMU, star tracker, magnetometer, reaction wheel).
• Strong programming in C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks (Google Test) for embedded C/C++.
• Experience with IPC mechanisms (sockets, shared memory, queues, pub-sub).
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and containerized environments.
• Familiarity with flight software/hardware interfaces (I/O, TCP/IP, UDP, CAN, I2C, SPI, RS-422/485).
• Familiarity with MISRA C/C++ and static analysis tools.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement simulation software for testing and verifying flight software.
• Collaborate to deploy a cross-platform simulation environment supporting software-only, HWIL, real-time tests, and spacecraft AI&T.
• Work with hardware, systems, and autonomy engineers to define interfaces and behavioral boundaries.
• Develop and integrate simulations for FSW testing across nominal and off-nominal scenarios.
• Participate in software integration, verification, and validation including SIL/HIL.
• Provide background support for on-orbit operations and troubleshooting.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team technical development.
