Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Satellite Flight Software Engineer III to design, develop, and verify onboard software for the TeraWave constellation. The role focuses on C/DH, telecommand and telemetry processing, and time management within mission‑critical environments.

You will collaborate with hardware, systems, and autonomy engineers, build simulation environments, and participate in SIL/HIL testing. Strong CS/embedded background required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Software Eng or related field.
• 6+ years in spacecraft flight or embedded software.
• C, C++, and Python programming.
• RTOS experience (Linux, QNX, VxWorks, RTEMS).
• Spacecraft avionics software (C/DH, telecommand, telemetry).
• CCSDS standards familiarity.
• Cybersecurity principles for space systems.
• Unit testing with Google Test.
• IPC mechanisms (sockets, shared memory, queues).
• Cross‑compilation tools and embedded Linux builds (CMake/Make/Yocto/Buildroot).
• Git, CI/CD, and containerized environments.
• Software verification/validation for mission‑critical systems.
• Networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, CAN, I2C, SPI).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and verify flight software for TeraWave’s C&DH and telemetry subsystems.
• Develop telecommand/telemetry processing and health/status data handling.
• Implement spacecraft time management and GPS/GNSS synchronization.
• Create interfaces between C&DH and other subsystems for safe operations.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and autonomy engineers on software requirements.
• Develop simulation environments and models for FSW testing.
• Support architecture reviews and trade studies.
• Contribute to software integration, SIL/HIL testing, and troubleshooting.
• Mentor junior engineers and support team development.
