Job summary
SpaceX in Redmond, WA is seeking a Sr. Automation and Controls Engineer for Satellites (Starlink) to lead multi-disciplinary projects spanning machine design, robotics, motion systems, and factory health monitoring.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science discipline.
- 5+ years of total experience in industrial or factory automation design and implementation OR 5+ years designing and building electro‑mechanical/robotic/automated systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and manage automation projects - from ideation to commissioning and hand-off to operations
- Architect, write, and debug PLC code with emphasis on maintainable, reusable code for high-volume manufacturing
- Ensure safety and reliability by implementing ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems for robots, gantries, conveyors, etc.
- Create simple, intuitive HMI screens for complex machines to ease operation and troubleshooting
- Design electrical systems compliant to NEC, NFPA, & UL508A regulations
- Create schedules and budgets and lead the team to achieve them
