EPAM Systems in New York City is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to spearhead our SAP BTP/CAP Java and Fiori engineering team. You will lead the development of high-impact services across the full product lifecycle, mentoring engineers and delivering modular, scalable solutions.

You will work closely with the Team Architect and Product Manager to translate roadmaps into technical designs, drive best practices, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining system integrity.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in coding web-based applications with team coordination
• Proven track record leading software teams to launch commercial-grade software
• Mastery of Java, Spring Boot, and robust web service development
• Strong SAP BTP/CAP experience with Fiori-based development (SAPUI5, OData, CAP CDS)
• Deep understanding of software design patterns, enterprise architectures, and data structures
• Experience building web APIs and API-first design (Swagger/REST/GraphQL)
• Familiarity with SAP HANA DB and at least one other RDBMS
• Proficiency with GitHub, Jenkins, Selenium, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Puppet, and Chef
• Knowledge of deployment environments, config management and change control
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud platforms
• Strong authn/authz skills (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML); third‑party logins are a plus
• U.S. Government Security Clearance eligibility

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coordinate a high-performing development team to build and scale robust software
• Hands-on involvement in design, prototyping, development, deployment, and iteration
• Collaborate with Team Architect to decompose roadmaps into technical components
• Advocate for coding best practices, automated testing, and scalable microservices
• Partner with Product Managers, QA, UX to align scope, deliverables, timelines
• Analyze and resolve production issues, customer requests, and inquiries
• Assess severity and ownership of production problems until resolved
• Organize and delegate tasks to optimize output across the team
• Balance technical excellence with business needs and timely delivery
• Foster a collaborative environment and drive continuous improvement
