Atoms is seeking a seasoned safety engineer to own the end-to-end safety case for production systems, integrating functional safety, autonomous behavior, and fleet operations. You will define boundaries, validate evidence, and drive formal safety reviews while leveraging AI-assisted workflows to strengthen hazard coverage.

Qualifications

• Nine-plus years in functional safety, autonomous behavior, and fleet operations.
• Author of record for a structured safety argument (GSN/CAE) on production systems.
• Hazard analysis mastery with validation strategy using methods such as HARA, FMEA, and FTA.
• Rigorous data provenance—labeling and challenging measurements before acceptance.
• Ability to enforce safety gates under commercial pressure and articulate evidence gaps.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), UL 4600, SAE J3016.
• Strong written communication for safety documents.

Responsibilities

• Own safety case end-to-end, from drafting to sign-off and governance.
• Define operation conditions, valid assumptions, exclusions, and hazards.
• Evaluate evidence sufficiency with experience metrics and data provenance.
• Construct CAE boundaries to show when safety claims hold.
• Lead formal safety reviews and governance, driving resolutions.
• Identify process gaps and enforce rigorous methodologies.
• Pioneer AI-assisted safety workflows to draft, test hazards, and ensure traceability.
