Viable Engineering Solutions LLC in Orlando, FL seeks a Senior Robotics Controls Engineer to lead the controls for robotic automation projects from concept to commissioning. Define problems, break work into tasks, and guide the team while staying hands-on with cell layout, reach, cycle time, safety, and system integration.

Responsibilities include leading controls design, estimating effort, defining architecture, coordinating with software, and mentoring junior engineers.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
• 9+ years of industrial robotics or automation experience with leading robot integration.
• Expert-level FANUC programming including teach pendant programming and controller configuration with experience on another robot platform.
• Deep experience with FANUC ROBOGUIDE or equivalent for cell layout, reach, and cycle-time studies.
• Strong understanding of robot kinematics, frames, and payloads, and error sources affecting accuracy.
• Hands-on experience with multi-robot or external-axis cells, coordinated motion, or conveyor tracking.
• Experience leading vision integration with Cognex/Keyence or comparable tools (2D/3D).
• Track record defining control architecture between robots, PLCs, HMIs, and networks like EtherNet/IP or PROFINET.
• PLC programming experience on Rockwell or Siemens platforms.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and I/O drawings.
• Led controls on at least two delivered robotic cells from concept through acceptance.
• Experience leading technical work of a small team and estimating controls effort from scope and risk.
• Experience configuring robot safety functions (Fanuc DCS) and familiarity with ISO 10218 or ANSI/RIA R15.06.

• Lead controls technical aspects for robotic automation projects from feasibility to deployment with cell concepts and controls plans.
• Break project scope into tasks with clear sequences, I/O, and acceptance criteria; assign and track progress.
• Act as primary controls consultant with customers, guiding approaches and solving blockers.
• Develop controls effort estimates for projects and flag changes early.
• Define robot program architecture, including structure, error recovery, and reusable routines.
• Lead cell layout and robot selection studies in FANUC ROBOGUIDE and validate reach and cycle time.
• Define control architecture and handshakes between robots, PLCs, HMIs, vision, conveyors, and cell software.
• Lead multi-robot/external-axis cells, coordination, and conveyor tracking.
• Oversee vision and sensor integration to meet system-level accuracy.
• Define accuracy and cycle-time budgets and validation tests; own safety aspects (Fanuc DCS).
• Drive reliability, fault handling, alarms, and diagnostics; on-site commissioning and troubleshooting.
