Job summary

Mercy Health seeks a Clinical Unit Leader for St. Joseph Warren Hospital to coordinate patient care on a designated unit. The Lead RN/Charge Nurse collaborates with the Clinical Manager to ensure clinical excellence, staff guidance, safety, and efficient resource use.

Responsibilities include staff scheduling, preceptorship, interprofessional collaboration, and promoting a culture of quality and compassionate care in line with Mercy Health values.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; RN license in Ohio or compact state.
• 2 years nursing experience with 1 year minimum clinical experience in the acuity level of desired area.
• BLS certification preferred; obtain from approved source prior to entering patient care setting.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts the schedule and patient assignments to accommodate changes in acuity and resources.
• Provides guidance to staff, clinical support, and oversees unit in the absence of the leader.
• Maintains knowledge of environmental safety standards and infection control.
• Communicates effectively with patients and families regarding plan of care.
• Rounds on patients to evaluate safety, quality and patient experience.
• Functions as a clinical resource and role model for staff; may serve as preceptor.
• Collaborates with other departments to resolve operational problems.
• Participates in quality monitoring and performance improvement activities.
