Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer IV to lead mechanical design and packaging for RF payload hardware used in the TeraWave satellite network. You will bridge mechanical, RF, and electrical teams, guide trade studies, and ensure manufacturability across programs.

You will mentor junior engineers and coordinate across groups to align packaging with interfaces and performance goals. A strong background in high-power RF hardware is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and packaging of complex electronic hardware systems.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (CATIA/SolidWorks/NX) for assembly modeling.
• Experience with structural and thermal analyses and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and packaging of mechanical structures for phased array antennas and RF payload hardware assemblies.
• Direct thermal management strategies for high-power RF payload electronics.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses, including tolerance stack-ups, to validate RF payload mechanical designs.
• Lead architecture trade studies for RF payload mechanical packaging across programs.
• Serve as technical contact for RF payload mechanical design with electrical/RF teams.
• Mentor suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure producibility.
• Coordinate mechanical packaging requirements with electrical interfaces.
• Mentor junior engineers on RF payload packaging design and analysis.
