Job summary

Cushing Terrell is seeking an Architect or Design Technician to lead grocery and retail architecture projects from concept through construction. You will collaborate with clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver spaces that balance performance, sustainability, and brand storytelling.

The role emphasizes leading multiple projects, managing client expectations, and ensuring design quality while maintaining schedule and cost controls.

Qualifications

• NAAB-accredited Bachelor or Master of Architecture degree.
• 3–5+ years of job-related experience with demonstrated leadership of projects, teams, and clients.
• Experienced and passionate about Grocery and Retail.
• License is optional: current architect license/registration is a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from design vision through construction.
• Manage client relationships and coordinate with consultants and internal teams.
• Prepare contract documents and construction cost estimates.
• Ensure compliance with specifications and codes; monitor project timelines and budgets.
• Direct activities of architectural team members and supervise where applicable.
• Conduct on-site observations and final inspections; resolve issues with construction teams.
