Job summary

Epic Games is seeking a Senior Release Manager to oversee the Fortnite ecosystem’s build and release processes. You will collaborate with producers, programmers, build engineers, and QA to scale release management and ensure timely, compliant ship releases across platforms.

You will own scheduling, quality control, and certification across products, coordinating with multiple teams, managing release notes, and facilitating approvals for live deployment.

Qualifications

• Strong production/project management skills, communication skills, and people management/direct report experience.
• Demonstrated ability in right-sized process development and improvement.
• Experience with build and release processes for Software or Games as a Service product.
• Familiar with Perforce, Jira, Grafana, AirTable
• Exposure to platform certification processes
• Technical orientation and a strong understanding of software development
• Knowledge of the game development process and exposure to working with shipped and live titles

Responsibilities

• Developing new practices to scale release management and lead a sub-team of release managers.
• Owning the scheduling, coordination, quality control, and external certification process across multiple platforms and/or products
• Acting as the liaison between multiple development teams, coordinating and negotiating development plans, exceptions, sales/mktg/publishing content, as well as releases
• Working with the publishing and development teams to determine release content plans as related to sales, giveaways, promotions, etc., and shepherding that content through external party approvals for release
• Working closely with QA, Build Engineers, and Lead Programmers to monitor the automated build and integration process, facilitate the resolution of build failures, and understand and communicate the impact of branches and code merges
• Partnering with QA Leads to establish and maintain the bug triage process and prioritize must-fix issues, coordinating internal and external release notes, known issues, and knowledge base updates, and ensuring releases have passed all required checks and approvals leading up to live deployment, while communicating approved exceptions to all necessary parties
