Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Relay Field Technician to join its Field Engineering team. The role involves testing, maintenance, and commissioning of substation power equipment, relaying, and control systems, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with protection & control schemes, SCADA interfaces, and hands-on testing across electro-mechanical and microprocessor relays. Travel to client sites and driving responsibilities are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years field experience in commissioning, panel & equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repair of substation relaying and control schemes.
• Experience in substation design, construction, commissioning, SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing is desirable.
• 3 phase power systems; power system protection & control schemes; test equipment; test equipment software.

Responsibilities

• Reading substation drawings (single line, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts).
• Support in writing procedures and test plans for maintenance and construction activities.
• Testing relays: voltage/current inputs, metering, SCADA, alarms, function switches.
• Troubleshoot and repair substation relaying and control equipment; commission substations and relaying equipment.
• Plan, schedule, and complete test activities with no service interruptions.
• Provide project technical support to Field Service personnel.
