Job summary

Atlas Connections is seeking a Relay Field Engineer 3 to lead field testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and startup of electrical distribution systems. You will collaborate with clients and project teams across industrial, data center, and utility environments.

Travel locally, regionally, and nationally is required; international travel may be available. Location options include Caroline County, VA or Washington, DC. Pay ranges from $39 to $63 per hour, with benefits negotiable.

Qualifications

• 5+ years electrical experience with a high school diploma or GED
• 4+ years with an associate degree
• 3+ years with a bachelor’s degree
• Active U.S. work authorization and ability to travel as required
• Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting protective relays and distribution equipment; NETA or NICET certification preferred
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals and produce clear test documentation
• Experience with electrical test equipment such as Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard, and Fluke; medium/high-voltage experience up to 500 kV is a plus
• Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA standards including arc flash, lockout/tagout, PPE

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform acceptance and maintenance testing of low and medium voltage electrical equipment per NETA standards
• Test, calibrate, program, and troubleshoot protective relays from various manufacturers
• Inspect and test cables, transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, switches, and motor control centers using various tests
• Diagnose electrical faults, investigate system failures, support equipment repair, commissioning, and startup
• Coordinate multiple field and in-house projects, maintain test reports and documentation, communicate findings to clients and project managers
• Guide junior technicians, promote safe work practices and teamwork, help control material costs
• Participate in an emergency on-call rotation and respond promptly when needed
