Job summary

The Blood Center in New Orleans is seeking a Reference Laboratory Supervisor to lead our Reference Lab team. You will oversee routine and complex transfusion testing, manage validation of new equipment, and ensure high-quality patient results.

Qualifications

• Experience in blood banking supervision.
• SBB certification or MT ASCP preferred.
• LA CLS license.
• Immunohematology knowledge at intermediate to advanced level.
• Two years supervisory experience in blood banking or at least five years of medical technology experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner in decision making.
• Resolve discrepant serologic patient results.
• Perform routine transfusion service testing.
• Perform complex antibody identification.
• Perform molecular genotyping.
• Oversee the reference/transfusion laboratory operations and ensure testing per regulatory standards.
• Maintain inventory of rare and frozen units.
• Assist in validation of new equipment and writing SOPs.
• Update SOPs in line with regulatory changes.
• Evaluate staff performance and train new personnel.
