Job summary

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, seeks an MT Blood Bank Supervisor to lead the Blood Bank within our Laboratory Services team. This role blends technical testing with leadership, quality programs, and regulatory readiness in a critical-access hospital.

Ideal candidate is an experienced Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist with a strong transfusion medicine background, ready to mentor staff and ensure high-quality patient testing and reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field; Bachelor's preferred.
• Minimum five years of clinical lab experience as MT/MLS/Lab Tech.
• Strong knowledge of Blood Bank operations and regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, AABB).
• Ability to work as a generalist in all areas of the clinical lab.
• Experience with LIS and Microsoft Office.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily Blood Bank operations, staffing, training, competency, scheduling, QA, and transfusion services management.
• Oversee CAP accreditation activities, quality control, inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
• Perform and supervise complex testing, blood product management, crossmatching, processing, QC review, and instrument troubleshooting.
• Mentor staff and collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to ensure accurate patient testing and reporting.
