Job summary

Tempus AI in the United States is seeking an Associate Principal Scientist, PharmaR&D to design and execute research projects for biopharmaceutical partners. The role focuses on real‑world data analytics, survival analysis, and AI/ML methods to advance cancer precision medicine across Tempus’ network.

Ideal candidates have deep expertise in observational data and experience communicating complex findings to diverse stakeholders, with a strong publication track record.

Qualifications

• Advanced education in epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, public health, or related fields
• PhD with 4+ years of experience or Masters with 6+ years of experience
• Expert‑level proficiency with observational late stage trial data or real‑world healthcare data
• Experience leading analytical studies from scoping to publication or dissemination
• Proficiency in R, Python, and SQL and related packages
• Strong understanding of cancer biology and a track record of peer‑reviewed publications
• Adherence to good software engineering practices (version control, documentation)

Responsibilities

• Navigate client interactions and present highly technical results clearly
• Lead derivation of complex real‑world endpoints using extensive coding
• Incorporate LLMs and AI tools to accelerate code development and insight generation
• Collaborate with Research, Engineering & Data Science to deliver innovative solutions
• Partner with pharma clients to identify where Tempus platform adds value
• Stay current with industry trends and continuously improve methodologies
