IonQ is seeking a Staff Engineer Firmware to lead real-time control system development onsite in Pleasanton, CA. You will drive architectural decisions for embedded hardware and software, bridging physicists, electronics engineers, and firmware teams.

You will design system controllers on ARM SoCs, write production-grade C/C++ and Rust, implement robust control algorithms, and mentor engineers while advancing CI/CD and testing frameworks.

Competenze

• 8–12 years embedded experience or PhD with 8+ years related work.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills with profiling and simulation tools.
• Leadership in multi-disciplinary engineering initiatives.

Mansioni

• Provide architectural direction for real-time control systems and lead discussions across hardware and firmware teams.
• Design system controllers on ARM SoC, including user-space drivers and libraries for quantum control.
• Write high-performance C/C++ and Rust code; establish team-wide standards.
• Define and implement essential control algorithms for precision instruments.
• Lead hardware bring-up and board testing with hardware engineers.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and pair programming.
• Drive CI/CD, automated testing, and development infrastructure improvements.
