Job summary

TYLin seeks a Senior Track and Civil Engineer for our Rail & Transit team to lead track design on major U.S. rail projects. You will guide horizontal/vertical alignments, turnouts, and yard layouts, coordinating with signaling, power, OCS, and civil teams to deliver integrated solutions.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, client interfaces, and mentorship, with opportunities across planning through construction support in a hybrid U.S. location-based setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years of rail track design experience (rail types listed: light rail, heavy rail, commuter rail, intercity, or freight).
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. state.
• PMP certification is a plus.
• Proven experience leading complex rail infrastructure projects.
• Advanced knowledge of track geometry, alignment design, and corridor integration.
• Proficiency with Bentley/OpenRail/OpenRoads/MicroStation/Civil 3D or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of AREMA, FRA regulations, and state/local agency requirements.
• Experience coordinating with rail systems disciplines (signaling, OCS, traction power, communications).
• Experience with U.S. transit agencies or Class I railroads is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the discipline lead for track design on major rail and transit projects across the U.S.
• Lead the development of horizontal and vertical alignments, turnouts, crossovers, and yard layouts.
• Oversee preparation and review of engineering plans, specs, design criteria, and technical reports.
• Conduct corridor studies, constructability analyses, phasing plans, and design alternatives.
• Coordinate with signaling, traction power, OCS, communications, civil, structural, and geotechnical teams.
• Provide senior-level technical review, QA, and risk management guidance.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across project phases from feasibility to construction support.
• Interface with clients, transit agencies, and regulators to resolve issues and support decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth.
• Support business development: proposals, client engagement, strategic pursuits.
• Contribute to TYLin best practices for track design and rail corridor integration.
