Job summary

Ash Grove Cement, a CRH Company, is seeking a Quarry Supervisor to coordinate and supervise quarry operations, ensuring material supply for plant production. The role monitors daily activities of quarry workers and oversees a medium-sized team.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, equipment coordination, reporting, and collaboration with other departments to meet raw material needs. A technical background in geology/mining is preferred, with leadership experience in quarry settings.

Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical degree in geology, mining, engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quarry or mining.
• Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs.
• Ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to lead/manage others.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in parallel.

Responsibilities

• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
• Establishes, communicates, and assigns job responsibilities, goals, and performance standards.
• Supervises hauling operations to prepare rock for crushing.
• Supervises drilling, blasting, and land stripping where applicable.
• Ensures quarry activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Conducts safety meetings and inspections of work areas.
• Monitors production needs to ensure adequate rock supply.
• Maintains explosives inventory for quarry operations.
• Prepares reports and paperwork for management.
• Inspects work sites to ensure proper clean-up procedures.
• Coordinates with other department managers to supply raw materials.
• Assists in planning long-term quarry development and mining exploration.
• Assists with annual budgets and equipment specifications.
• Coordinates purchased material with plant needs.
• Keeps aware of industry trends by reading trade magazines.
• Schedules repairs with maintenance; orders parts and equipment.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
