Job summary

• Experience providing technical assistance or task-specific training to other employees preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical equipment and component assembly panels, controls, power distribution, wiring, cables, conduits, grounding and bonding.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform incoming, in process and/or final inspections of electrical equipment and components.
• Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material, specifications and inspection criteria.
• Inspect panels, controls, power distribution equipment, wiring, cables, conduits, grounding and bonding.
• Verify equipment by part number, serial number, rating, approved drawing and BOM.
• Plan and complete inspection activities across multiple units based on production priorities and inspection requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to Quality Technicians regarding inspection methods, drawings, checklists, tools, and acceptance criteria.
• Identify and document nonconforming conditions and support containment of affected components, circuits, panels or units.
• Verify rework corrections and containment actions before accepting the affected work.
• Escalate unclear requirements, repeat defects, significant risks, incomplete documentation and release concerns.
• Support investigations by providing inspection records, photographs, test information and other objective evidence.
• Assist with onboarding and task-specific training of Electrical Quality Technicians.
• Recommend improvements to inspection checklists, work instructions and inspection methods.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate inspection findings clearly and promptly.

The Opportunity

The Lead Quality Technician Electrical independently performs incoming in process and/or final inspections of electrical products or equipment and supports inspections of greater complexity. The position manages inspection activities across multiple assigned units, provides technical guidance to Quality Technicians, and promotes consistent use of electrical drawings, bills of material, inspection checklists, internal standards and customer requirements.

What you will do

• Independently perform incoming, in process and/or final inspections of electrical equipment and components
• Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material, specifications, inspection checklists and acceptance criteria
• Inspect panels, controls, power distribution equipment, wiring, cables, conduits, grounding, bonding and related components
• Verify equipment by part number, serial number, rating, approved drawing and bill of material
• Inspect equipment placement, mounting, orientation, clearances, condition and protection from damage
• Inspect wire and cable type, size, gauge, routing, supports, labels, terminations, connections, hardware, torque and torque marks
• Inspect conduit type, size, routing, supports, fittings, bends, entries, bonding and workmanship
• Verify completion and documentation of continuity, insulation resistance, grounding, bonding, point-to-point and functional tests as applicable
• Plan and complete inspection activities across multiple assigned units based on production priorities and inspection requirements
• Provide technical guidance to Quality Technicians regarding inspection methods, drawings, checklists, tools, and acceptance criteria
• Identify and document nonconforming conditions and support containment of affected components, circuits, panels or units
• Verify rework corrections and containment actions before accepting the affected work
• Confirm that required inspections, tests documentation and open Quality items are complete before final acceptance
• Escalate unclear requirements, repeat defects, significant risks, incomplete documentation and release concerns
• Support investigations by providing inspection records, photographs, test information and other objective evidence
• Assist with onboarding and task-specific training of Electrical Quality Technicians
• Recommend improvements to inspection checklists, work instructions and inspection methods
• Support first build customer audit and factory acceptance activities as assigned
• Make conformance decisions based on approved requirements and objective evidence without allowing production schedules or delivery pressure to influence inspection results
• Maintain accurate records and communicate inspection findings and product concerns clearly, promptly and with integrity

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Three or more years of electrical manufacturing panel assembly, wiring testing or inspection experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience independently inspecting electrical equipment and components, panels, wiring, conduits or industrial electrical equipment
• Experience providing technical assistance or task-specific training to other employees preferred
• Working knowledge of electrical equipment and component assembly panels, controls, power distribution, wiring, cables, conduits, grounding and bonding
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material, equipment ratings, specifications and inspection criteria
• Knowledge of wire and cable sizes, terminations, lugs, connectors, electrical hardware, torque, labeling and conduit installation
• Working knowledge of nonconformance identification, product control, containment, correction verification and final acceptance
• Ability to review electrical test records and confirm that required inspections and tests are complete
• Strong communication, organization, prioritization, technical guidance and problem solving skills
• Ability to manage inspection work across multiple units and changing production priorities
• Basic computer skills and the ability to use computers to access drawings and documentation, complete inspection records and communicate inspection results preferred
