Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Lead Quality Control Engineer (LQCE) to manage QC processes on projects, applying judgment to QC recommendations, policies, and procedures in field and office environments. This safety sensitive role may mentor junior QC engineers on large projects or oversee multiple smaller ones.

The role requires understanding of contract, plans, specs, and codes; coordination of RFIs; and participation in continuous improvement and CIP programs to uphold quality and safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture or construction management.
• Experience managing QC on large commercial construction projects is preferred.
• Strong ability to interpret plans, specs, codes and standards across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Review and update the project quality process log (QPL) and provide comments to the QC manager.
• Direct removal and replacement of non-conforming work under contract oversight.
• Be aware of contract, plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Submit and review RFIs to ensure field changes are implemented.
• Coordinate daily trade partner test and inspection schedules.
• Participate in work completion tagging, punch lists, and pre-final punch.
• Audit trade partner QC procedures and participate in quality recognition.
• Support CIP and lessons-learned initiatives and promote safety culture.
• Perform safety and housekeeping inspections through the SAFE program.
