Job summary

The State of Ohio's Developmental Disabilities - Gallipolis Developmental Center seeks a Psychiatric/DD Nurse Supervisor to coordinate nursing services, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality patient care. The role emphasizes leadership, policy development, and collaboration with medical teams.

Requires an Ohio RN license and at least 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience with individuals who have developmental disabilities, plus training/experience in staff development and counseling.

Qualifications

• Current license as registered nurse in Ohio.
• Minimum 24 months experience in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities.
• 3 months training or 3 months experience in employee training & development
• 3 courses or 9 months experience in public relations
• 3 courses or 9 months experience in counseling

Responsibilities

• Coordinates nursing services for designated area on one or more assigned shifts.
• Coordinates assessments, planning, evaluation, delivery of psychiatric nursing and medical nursing.
• Evaluates care of patients/consumers.
• Assists in planning nursing policies and procedures.
• Monitors all nursing activities for designated area on one or more assigned shifts to ensure compliance.
• Coordinates staffing schedules and authorizes overtime.
• Serves as liaison between nursing/medical services and other disciplines.
• Supervises all subordinate nursing personnel assigned to designated area on one or more shifts and in some cases where there is no hospital aide supervisor on staff, also supervises all direct care staff.
• Approves/disapproves leave requests.
• Completes performance evaluations.
• Recommends/initiates disciplinary actions, counsels, and advises staff.
• Develops, schedules and monitors in-service training programs
• Attends meetings, workshops and seminars
• Serves as interdisciplinary team member
• Writes and reviews reports
• Provides professional nursing care to patients as needed, confers with physicians regarding patient care and responds to emergencies.
