Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Lead Project Engineer at our Butler Works facility in Butler, PA. You will lead capital, infrastructure, and continuous improvement projects from concept to startup, partnering with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.

The role emphasizes improving equipment reliability, supporting manufacturing operations, and driving plant performance in a high-demand heavy manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Ten+ years of engineering experience in heavy manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines and budgets.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and MS Project or similar PM software.
• Able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects from design through procurement, construction, installation and startup.
• Develop project scopes, specifications, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
• Provide engineering support to Operations and Maintenance to improve reliability and safety.
• Oversee contractors, fabricators, suppliers, and vendors to ensure safety, schedule and budget targets.
• Ensure contractor safety compliance including site orientation and permits.
• Review and modify drawings and schematics as needed.
• Maintain engineering documentation and revision records.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and standards.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance plant performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
