Cleveland-Cliffs Butler Works in Butler, PA has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer responsible for identifying process improvements and leading infrastructure projects. You will coordinate facilities upgrades, ensure safety compliance, and lead union workforce during maintenance outages.

Required are a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3–5 years in manufacturing or steel environments.

• Organize, plan, develop, manage and implement projects for new or improved facilities and processes.
• Maintain safety compliance with designs, equipment, and installation activities.
• Participate in investigations and evaluations for proposed actions and equipment.
• Prepare equipment and construction installation specifications.
• Manage infrastructure programs including cranes, lifelines, roofs, and erosion control.
• Lead union workforce during planned maintenance outages.
• Coordinate civil and structural engineering for new projects and upgrades.
• Consult with operating, maintenance, research, and other personnel to obtain required information.

Location: Butler, PA Cleveland-Cliffs, Butler Works, has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Identify process improvements and/or critical equipment/facility replacements to produce a quality and competitive commercial product.
• Organize, prioritize, plan, develop, manage and implement projects for new and improved facilities and processes with an emphasis on meeting strategic goals and needs.
• Maintain corporate safety compliance with associated designs, furnished equipment, contractor installation techniques and field installation activities.
• Participate in technical investigations, studies, problem review, new and proposed equipment, materials, processes and facilities and provide sound engineering evaluations and recommendations for proposed actions.
• Prepare equipment and construction installation specifications.
• Mange and coordinate annual Infrastructure program including crane girders/runways, lifeline systems, building roofs, erosion control.
• Lead union workforce to complete large mechanical jobs during planned maintenance outages.
• Perform and coordinate activities relating to civil and structural engineering for new projects and upgrades.
• Consult with operating, maintenance, research and other personnel to obtain required information necessary to provide desired engineering services.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Ability to perform / coordinate structural and civil project and infrastructure activities.
• Ability to coordinate and execute a multitude of projects with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication, analytical, time management skills, and strong computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-5 years of manufacturing or steel industry experience.
• 3-5 years of project engineering experience.
