Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Project Engineer to serve as the engineering lead for complex generation projects. The role spans conception through commissioning, coordinating internal teams, external consultants, OEMs, and EPCs to deliver safe, reliable, and cost‑effective power assets.

The position involves leading design reviews, RFIs, and progress reporting, with travel as needed and opportunities across Simple Cycle GTs, CC GTs, solar, wind, and BESS projects.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree is required or strongly preferred.
• PE license is encouraged and preferred for senior roles.
• Advanced degrees (MS/PhD) in engineering strengthen qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities across multiple disciplines for generation capital projects.
• Schedule and lead engineering meetings and coordinate with stakeholders and vendors.
• Provide regular progress updates and ensure safety, reliability, and cost‑effectiveness.
• Travel ~25% outside Ohio during construction phase as needed.
