Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a Project Engineer to lead complex generation projects, guiding conceptual and detailed design, procurement, and commissioning. You will coordinate internal teams, external partners, and regulators to ensure safe, reliable, and cost‑effective delivery of utility‑scale assets.

The portfolio spans new builds and major retrofits across simple cycle, CCGT, solar, wind, and energy storage. Travel may be required; a PE license is encouraged.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of related engineering experience with ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree.
• Or 2+ years with Master's/PhD in ABET-accredited program.
• PE license in any US state or Puerto Rico encouraged/preferred.
• Bachelor’s in Engineering Tech acceptable with PE license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Engineering Work Plan.
• Lead the Engineering Design Review process and respond to RFIs.
• Coordinate design efforts with internal AEP teams and external partners.
• Provide support during construction and facilitate project closeout.
• Provide regular updates on engineering progress to project team and stakeholders.
• Travel to AEP generation facilities as needed.
