Job summary

Kratos Defense and Security Solutions seeks a Project Engineer to coordinate and manage all technical aspects of a complex defense training systems project, ensuring successful integration, test, and delivery. The role requires strong leadership of electrical and mechanical engineering teams and seamless collaboration with clients and vendors.

The incumbent will develop engineering execution plans, oversee design reviews, and ensure compliance with project requirements, standards, and budgets

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant technical field
• Significant work experience in mechanical engineering may substitute for education
• At least 5 years of related experience in aerospace/military training systems or similar high-tech environments
• Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and system models
• Proficiency with Model Based Design/Engineering and ANSI Y14.5 (GD&T)
• Strong computer skills and experience with standard office software

Responsibilities

• Define and manage the overall technical scope of the project and develop engineering execution plans
• Supervise engineering staff and reviewers across multiple disciplines
• Oversee development, integration, and test of engineering deliverables including drawings and calculations
• Coordinate and review analyses and calculations for technical accuracy
• Manage procurement technical aspects including vendor evaluation and specifications
• Address technical issues during design, procurement, construction, and commissioning
• Monitor progress against schedules and budgets and implement corrective actions
• Provide oversight during procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, and commissioning
• Conduct site inspections and progress reviews for technical compliance
• Identify and mitigate technical risks across the project lifecycle
• Serve as technical interface among PM, engineers, clients, vendors, and stakeholders
• Manage changes to project scope with proper evaluation and approval
