Job summary

Kratos is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Orlando, FL to lead the design, analysis, and documentation of complex mechanical systems for defense applications. You will drive assemblies from concept through to manufacturable solutions, ensuring performance, safety, and schedule adherence.

The role requires at least a BS in mechanical/aerospace engineering with 5+ years on related projects, proficiency in CAD/3D modeling, GD&T, and collaboration across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a relevant technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering and related technical domain.
• Experience in creating technical drawings and 3D models using CAD.
• Experience in design for manufacturing and knowledge of common manufacturing methods.
• Working knowledge of ASME Y14.1 and Y14.5 GD&T standards.

Responsibilities

• Leads design of assemblies and structures for integration of complex mechanical systems and components before production.
• Performs stress and structural design analysis, assessing strength, durability, and safety under various stress conditions.
• Decomposes high-level requirements into detailed tasks and directs engineering teams.
• Generates concepts, drawings, electronic models, and documentation for manufacturing, integration, and testing.
• Reviews and communicates metrics for technical and schedule progress.
• Identifies risks and proposes mitigation strategies.
• Liaises with manufacturing, systems, and simulator teams to ensure feasible integration.
