Job summary

New York Power Authority seeks an Electrical Engineer to provide engineering support across NYPA plants and substations. You will lead design-modification projects, perform field inspections, and coordinate maintenance activities with planners and contractors.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with codes, reviewing designs and reports, and providing 24/7 emergency response support. A BS in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of experience are preferred; NYS EIT is a plus.

Qualifications

Experience applying codes, standards, and procedures in electrical design.
Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration with vendors.
Ability to coordinate multi-project tasks and supervise staff.
Experience with electrical design or forecasting software (SKM Power Tools) preferred.
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering; 8+ years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

Lead engineer on design modification projects, studies, and O&M activities.
Perform field inspections, condition assessments, and equipment evaluations.
Provide 24/7 emergency response support as needed.
Coordinate cross-disciplinary activities for project execution.
Review designs, calculations, specs, and reports from internal/external parties.
Direct electrical design and drafting personnel on site.
Supervise maintenance staff and contractors; schedule work with planners.
Hold work clearances and coordinate activities in Site Electrical.
Review meter systems operation and data interface with NYPA/external agencies.
Support Site ECC emergency response.
