Job summary

Moog is seeking a Project Design Engineer in the Space and Defense Group for hybrid work in Sunnyvale, CA. You will lead structures and motion control projects, coordinating a multi-disciplinary team across engineering, manufacturing and QA to meet budgets and schedules.

The role focuses on concept design, development, analysis and testing of hardware for aerospace and Defense applications. A DoD/Aerospace background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience in design, analysis, development and production of precision mechanical hardware.
• Experience with mechanism and component design, development and verification testing.
• Ability to communicate technical and programmatic information to peers, management and customers.
• Ability to manage time and competing priorities of multiple stakeholders.
• DoD/Aerospace industry experience is a plus.
• Experience with Solid modeling tools (SolidWorks, NX) and PLM tools (Teamcenter) is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective project leadership and oversight of technical, cost and schedule performance for assigned programs.
• Lead engineer and main technical point of contact with the customer.
• Validate conceptual solutions through trade studies and analyses.
• Document designs, analyses, and test results with precise reports.
• Set direction for technical teams; coordinate with production, assembly, integration and testing to ensure delivery.
• Support proposals and costing for bids and proposals.
