Job summary

Physical Intelligence is seeking a Production Test Lead to build the software foundation for manufacturing its robotic systems at increasing volume. You will own the systems used to flash firmware, provision devices, configure hardware, and record manufacturing results, turning scripts into secure, observable production tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/Robotics or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in manufacturing or robotics.
• Strong Python experience and Linux systems familiarity.
• Experience building web apps and APIs to orchestrate hardware.
• Experience designing stateful workflows with retries, timeouts, or resumability.
• Familiarity with device provisioning, OTA updates, or hardware testing.
• Experience integrating with inventory/production systems.
• Knowledge of asynchronous jobs, durable state, and failure modes.
• Security-focused artifact distribution and least-privilege access.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and development of PI’s manufacturing software platform.
• Create technician-friendly workflows for assembly, flashing, provisioning, and calibration.
• Translate scripts and procedures into versioned, repeatable operations.
• Develop local station software exposing hardware capabilities to workflows.
• Design workflow primitives with retries, timeouts, cancellations, and criteria.
• Implement firmware and manufacturing binary distribution and updates.
• Integrate workflows with inventory systems and record metadata.
• Establish traceability for operators, stations, devices, and test artifacts.
• Debug issues across cloud services, Linux stations, networks, and devices.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define acceptance criteria and QA.
