Job summary

Apptronik is seeking a Technical Lead Manager for Production Engineering in Austin. You will lead the deployment-ready team responsible for turning humanoid subsystems into field-ready robots, overseeing FAT, on-site bring-up, and reliability in customer deployments.

You will guide provisioning, fleet tooling, and observability while partnering with architects and cross-functional partners to scale deployments—travel up to 25% and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• Proven technical leadership with delivery ownership of complex, cross-disciplinary systems.
• Hands-on experience deploying, integrating, and commissioning hardware/software in the field.
• Strong systems breadth across Linux, networking, provisioning/configuration, and C++/Python.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management for senior leadership and customers.
• Sound judgment under pressure at customer facilities with demanding timelines.
• Willingness to travel to deployment sites, up to 25% during active deployments.
• Formal people-management experience—hiring, developing, and directing a team.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and grow the Production Engineering team including software support, SRE, and hardware‑config engineers.
• Own the engineering last mile end-to-end and drive FAT acceptance at Robot Park and customer sites.
• Champion on-site deployment, bring-up, and commissioning for internal and external customers.
• Establish standards, tooling, and on-call practices for a growing fleet.
• Own centralized deployment and observability across the fleet with canary and staged rollout.
• Set technical direction for provisioning, configuration, networking, and fleet tooling.
• Partner with Commercial, Service & Support, and PMO to align deployment schedules.
• Define lightweight, repeatable processes and FAT criteria that scale with growth.
