Job summary

Chewy is seeking a seasoned Manager, Product Design to lead the Enterprise Retail Systems design efforts in Boston or Seattle. You’ll mentor a 3–5 member design team, shape the product design direction, and partner with Product, Engineering, and Research to deliver impactful enterprise solutions.

The role emphasizes building scalable design systems, driving business outcomes, and advancing a strong design culture while exploring AI-enabled tools to enhance productivity and quality.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Product Design or related field.
• 3+ years leading Product Design teams in a fast-paced product organization.
• Experience balancing people leadership with hands-on product design in a player/coach role.
• Proven success partnering with Product, Engineering, Research, and business teams to deliver customer-centered products.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking and complex enterprise workflows.
• Excellent communication, storytelling, and team influence skills, including presenting to senior leadership.
• Experience using customer research, analytics, and experimentation to inform design decisions.
• Bachelor’s degree in design, HCI, or equivalent professional experience.
• Position may require occasional travel and 3–4 days per week in the local office.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, hire, and develop a team of 3–5 Product Designers in a leadership plus hands-on role.
• Define the vision for the Enterprise Retail Systems team and partner with Product and Engineering leaders to influence strategy and priorities.
• Guide discovery, prototyping, testing, and delivery to solve complex enterprise workflows using customer insights and systems thinking.
• Build a high-performing design culture through mentorship, performance management, and career development.
• Partner with User Research to validate concepts, measure adoption, and drive outcomes.
• Champion design quality, accessibility, scalable design systems, and continuous improvement.
• Explore AI-powered tools to improve design quality, team productivity, and experiences.
• Communicate design strategy and insights to executives and cross-functional partners to build alignment.
• Represent Product Design as a strategic partner across Enterprise Retail.
