Job summary

Global Cellulose Fibers is seeking a Process Control Manager at the Flint River Mill in Oglethorpe, GA. You will lead the Process Control Engineering team, drive reliability, and oversee capital projects to modernize mill automation.

The role emphasizes staff leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to engineering standards while delivering continuous process improvements on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of process controls experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a leadership position with direct reports.
• Prefer Bachelor’s degree in electrical, chemical, or control systems engineering.
• Prefer 10+ years in engineering within a fully integrated pulp and paper mill or similar.
• Knowledge of Ethernet networking and server/client concepts.
• Experience with design/installation/commissioning/troubleshooting of control systems (DeltaV, QCS, PI, PLCs).
• Strong communication and collaboration across mill teams and management.
• Experience leading multiple projects and applying change management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for Process Control Engineering and staffing.
• Drive reliability, process stability, efficiency, and long-term automation strategies.
• Serve as a focal point for SME alignment with company standards and procedures.
• Lead transitions and optimization of mill control systems through capital projects.
• Provide capital project management and technical direction for control system evolution.
• Monitor business continuity through documentation, training and change management.
• Approve hardware/software designs for new process automation projects.
• Champion Advanced Process Control (APC) and MPC initiatives.
• Set priorities, allocate resources, and manage workload across control functions.
• Develop and maintain Process Control Technician Skill Blocks.
• Support key customers and cross-functional teams.
• Approve control philosophies, documentation, and engineering practices.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes and internal standards.
• Assist technical groups with process improvement; manage teams and contractors.
• Provide weekend and off-hour support as needed.
