Job summary

South Coast Botanic Garden Foundation in Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA is seeking a Manager, Private Events to lead planning and execution of private event rentals. You will own client relationships post-contract and serve as the primary contact for clients, planners, and key vendors.

You will supervise the Coordinator, Private Events, provide MOD coverage for major events, and partner with departments to ensure events align with Garden policies, safety standards, and guest experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in event planning, venue coordination, hospitality, or related field.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Exceptional customer service and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to lead client relationships and manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, coach, and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Own client relationships for assigned private events from contract execution through completion.
• Lead planning meetings, site visits, and timelines with internal teams.
• Coordinate event requirements across departments to ensure successful delivery.
• Provide on-site leadership as MOD during events and manage staff accordingly.
• Ensure vendor management and compliance with Garden policies.
• Prepare post-event notes and recommendations for continuous improvement.
