Job summary

YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area in Colorado is seeking a dedicated early childhood teacher to lead a 3- to 5-year-old classroom, supervise staff, and ensure a safe, engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities include applying curriculum, maintaining a clean space, fostering positive relationships with children and families, and aligning with licensing requirements. Requires CPR/First Aid, 21+, and relevant credentials.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 21 years old.
• Current CPR & First Aid Certification.
• Possess a cooperative spirit committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to staff, lay leaders, YMCA members, program participants and the community.
• Ability to lead a classroom and staff.
• Knowledge of licensing requirements and regulations.
• Skilled in organizing and executing age-appropriate activities for children.
• Meet one of the following education requirements: Colorado Department of Education Early Childhood Credential level III, CDA, B.A. in Early Childhood Education, B.A. in Elementary Education, B.A. in Special Education, Colorado Director Qualified.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, direction and supervision to children 3-5 years of age during large and small group activities.
• Provides leadership to supporting staff: Support Staff management with Time, Attendance, and subbing needs.
• Provides and is responsible for maintaining a clean environment in the classroom and other areas utilized for classroom use.
• Applies educational curriculum to the classroom.
• Fosters positive relationships with all children and families through providing age-appropriate discipline that maintains respect for the child and open communication with families.
