Job summary

The Lead Infant Teacher at the YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area will guide program staff, implement curriculum in the classroom, and ensure a high-quality experience for children and families aligned with YMCA values.

Responsibilities include curriculum development with the Program Coordinator, daily lesson execution, and maintaining proper staff-to-child ratios, while conducting parent conferences and engaging families as volunteers.

Qualifications

• Meets state education and experience requirements as applicable by law.
• At least 18 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire.
• Experience working with children in developmental settings.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• State license for Infant, Toddler and Preschool.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and implementation of curriculum within established guidelines.
• Design and implement daily lessons/activities.
• Maintain proper participant/staff ratios as per guidelines.
• Prepare learning environments and materials; develop centers of interest.
• Supervise children and classroom operations.
• Conduct ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
• Conduct parent conferences and engage parents as volunteers.
• Maintain program site and records.
• Attend family nights, events, staff meetings, and trainings.
• Follow YMCA policies on medical, disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
