Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Precast Inspector II to lead plant quality control for precast and prestressed production, and to perform owner/agency inspections for DOT and structural precast programs. You will verify prestressing operations, review mix designs and strength records, and accept or reject finished products per specs.

Level II certification is required. You will supervise Level I inspectors, assign daily coverage, and maintain QC records for PCI and DOT approvals.

Qualifications

• PCI Quality Control Personnel Certification Level II, current, with 2+ years in a certified precast or prestressed plant.
• Working knowledge of PCI MNL-116/MNL-117 and the DOT precast specifications for your state.
• ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician certification preferred.
• Able to hold a production line to the specification when the schedule is pushing.

Responsibilities

• Verify prestressing operations: strand certification, tensioning, elongation, detensioning sequence, and transfer strength.
• Review mix designs, batch tickets, and strength records.
• Investigate low breaks and adjust with the plant.
• Accept or reject finished products against the specification and the shop drawings.
• Disposition repairs.
• Maintain plant QC records for PCI plant certification and DOT or owner acceptance programs.
• Supervise Level I inspectors; assign daily coverage and review their records.
• On owner/agency assignments, be the outside eye with documented acceptance decisions.
